The public scoping comment period is now closed. Thank you for your participation in the process. There will be additional opportunities for public involvement when the Draft Supplemental EIS/OEIS is released, anticipated in the fall of 2018.

Public involvement is a fundamental aspect of the environmental impact analysis process. The Navy encourages the public, government agencies, elected officials, and organizations to participate and comment during the public involvement process.

The purpose of this scoping period is to receive substantive comments from the public on the development of an environmental impact statement by identifying the “scope” of the analysis, including potential environmental issues and viable alternatives. Comments received during scoping are used to improve the analyses, and to ensure that impacts are adequately determined.

The Navy accepted comments throughout the 45-day scoping period beginning Aug. 1, 2017, to Sept. 15, 2017.
